Dr. Ernst-Joachim Trapp
Chairman
After completing his apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in Hamburg and pursuing his academic studies at Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), his first international assignments took him to Iraq in 1952 and Nigeria in 1957. These early experiences laid the groundwork for a career defined by global engagement and engineering excellence.
As an engineer, he played a key role in reorganizing the company’s internal structure and expanding its international footprint, leading major infrastructure projects such as dams in Peru and roads across Africa and the Middle East.
In 1964, he earned his Doctorate in Engineering from TU Berlin. Just five years later, at the age of 34, he was appointed Managing Partner and subsequently Chief Executive Officer of F.C. Trapp AG.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has been instrumental in shaping the international construction landscape:
-
Founding Member, EIC – European International Contractors
-
Member, Regional Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank
-
Vice President, Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry
-
Vice President, German-Arab Association
His achievements have been recognized at the highest levels. In 2005, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, in recognition of his contributions to international engineering and economic development. That same year, Technical University of Berlin honored him with its Medal of Honour.
